Here's how to correctly measure your Traditional Draw Length:

-Use a yard stick for quickest reference. Otherwise ANY stick will do and have a tape measure handy to measure your results.

-Place one end of the yardstick in the center of your sternum (chest bone) with it extended straight out in front of you, not to the side.

-Reach out on the yardstick in front of you EQUALLY with the fingertips of BOTH hands. Allow your shoulders to fall into the reach without straining forward.

-The measurement from the center of your chest to your extended fingertips of both hands in front of you is your true traditional draw.

-You may actually pull less than this until you achieve proper archer's form & technique.

*A footnote to this: if you are "over-bowed" (trying to shoot a bow that is more powerful than you can handle or should start with), you will likely not come close to your full draw and probably not develop proper form as a result. This will lead to difficult accuracy and early fatigue at the least, and possibly shoulder rotator cuff injury at the worst. Be sure to use a bow with draw weight within your personal limitations.
